Job summary

The Dalton School in Manhattan’s Upper East Side seeks full‑time Kindergarten Associate Teachers for the 2026‑2027 school year, starting in September 2026. Associates work closely with Head Teachers in a progressive First Program to support daily classroom operations and student learning.

Responsibilities include planning and leading lessons, assessing students, attending grade-level and parent conferences, contributing to curriculum planning, writing progress reports each trimester, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; enrollment in or progress toward an advanced degree in Elementary or Early Education is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience working with Lower School students is strongly preferred.
• Excellent writing and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Planning and leading small group or whole-class lessons.
• Assessing and documenting students’ needs.
• Attending and participating in Curriculum Night, grade-level meetings, parent–teacher conferences, student support meetings, Associate Teacher meetings, and professional development sessions.
• Engaging in curricular planning and classroom management discussions.
• Writing student progress reports each trimester.
• Supervising lunch, recess, and dismissal duties.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
