Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Kilns/Lift Operator to join our Lumber facility in Albany, GA. The role focuses on kiln control, safety, and forklift operation to move lumber through drying and processing stages.

Starting pay is $22 per hour, with increases based on skills and performance. The standard schedule is a 2/2/3 rotation with 7:00 am–7:00 pm shifts; a .50 shift premium applies for overnight hours. The job environment is climate-controlled outdoors.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months in manufacturing or industrial settings or related technical training.
• At least 6 months operating a forklift, backhoe, front end loader, or skid steer.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge and understanding of the kiln alarm system and how to react appropriately.
• Control a process (tank levels, temperatures, moisture readings, flows).
• Operate burners and kilns safely while drying a quality product.
• Troubleshoot complex problems within the machine center.
• Make critical decisions around burner operations and drying processes.
• Perform PMs and correct issues with precision on the machine center.
• May work extra days or stay late on maintenance days with short notice.
• Transport, store, and feed in-process lumber with a multi-ton forklift.
• Keep work area neat and organized.
• Forklift work is 100% outdoors in a climate-controlled environment.
