Job Description

Vector's client located in Solon, OH is seeking several Kiln Operators with Inspection responsibilities to join their team.

Pay Rate: $20.71/hr.
Available Shifts:

• 12-hr rotating days, 7a-7p
• 12-hr rotating nights, 7p-7a
• 1st Shift 7a-3:30p, M-F

Note: Union shop, with a raise upon permanent hire-in.

Job Responsibilities

1. Load and unload tunnel kiln cars, ensuring proper loading to prevent kiln wrecks. Maintain kiln cars in good condition, wash when necessary, understand compositions and sizes, re-deck cars, assist during kiln wrecks and power outages. Grease wheels of loaded kiln cars.
2. Determine if ware is acceptable or reject, using various measurement tools and inspection documents. Interpret computer-generated prints and inspection reports.
3. Disposе of rejected ware appropriately—reclaim, crush, discard, or set aside for review.
4. Prepare acceptable ware for shipment, including cleaning, labeling, wrapping, and boxing.
5. Properly pack and label over 2,500 different pieces, utilizing various packaging materials and developing new packaging methods to meet customer needs.
6. Re-inspect, re-pack, and combine partial ware as needed.
7. Maintain equipment such as foamer and stitcher, and change propane tanks and batteries on tow motors.
8. Use tow motors, pneumatic barrel movers, and strongarms to move ware, manually moving up to 17,000 pounds per shift.
9. Input transactions into systems, understand QC samples, and perform audits.
10. Order supplies, calibrate gauges, and operate computers and office equipment.
11. Assist shippers and perform dye checks on fine grain parts.
12. Use Bridgeport machines to smooth bricks.
