Rex Lumber, a family-owned lumber manufacturer in Graceville, FL, is seeking a Forklift Operator to join our growing team. You will operate a 30,000 lb forklift, move lumber, stack packs, and follow safety procedures in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate 30,000 lb forklifts to move, load, and stack materials.
• Stack lumber packs according to the Stacking Quality Standard.
• Complete daily forklift checklist for safety and maintenance.
• Transport materials between loading, processing and storage areas.
• Report malfunctions to area supervisor and reset as needed.
• Keep forklift and workspace clean and organized.
• Assist maintenance tradesmen as needed.
• Document all tags loaded/unloaded on load sheets daily.
• Scan tags after shift to LT system and perform daily checks.
• Participate in action planning and other duties as assigned.

We are currently seeking Forklift Operators to join our growing team in Graceville, Fl. This position will be responsible for operating a 30,000 lb. forklift. Forklift operators will be well trained and must follow all Standard Operating Procedures and safety rules.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

• Operate 30,000lb forklifts, or industrial trucks equipped to move, load, and stack/unstack materials around mills, warehouses and yard
• Ensure that all lumber packs are stacked according to the Stacking Quality Standard

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

OPERATION

• Complete Forklift Daily Checklist at the beginning of shift to ensure cleanliness of the forklift, proper and safe operation, and identification of any issues that may require maintenance intervention
• Safely and effectively operate diesel powered forklift to transport materials between various loading, processing, and storage areas, as assigned
• Safely stop and reset forklift when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report all malfunctions to area supervisor

HOUSEKEEPING & ORGANIZATION

• Maintain cleanliness and order of forklift and workspace throughout shift. Use downtime or slack time to clean and organize
• Immediately advise the area Supervisor if any tools are missing, or required supplies are missing or running low

MAINTENANCE

• Assist Maintenance Tradesmen in maintenance activities on machine center as assigned
• Grease and change wheels on kiln carts as needed

ADMINISTRATION & DOCUMENTATION

• Accurately document all tags loaded/unloaded on load sheets daily
• Scan all tags after the end of shift to LT system
• Complete daily hot checks as required by supervisor
• Participate in action planning process
• All other duties assigned by supervisor

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• 1+ years of forklift experience preferred
• 1+ years working in industrial manufacturing preferred
• Possess adequate fitness and stamina in order to conduct strenuous and physically demanding tasks.
• Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors
• Able to clearly explain problems or give instructions to others involved in keeping operations running smoothly
• Able to perform the job with limited supervision
• Understand basic machine components and operation, including working around moving mechanical parts and vibrations
• Arrive on time and stay on task in order to contribute to better output and reaching production goals
• Able to work well in an industrial environment, and as part of a team

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, or standing for long periods of time
• Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
• Ability to work outside in all conditions
• Must be comfortable working around loud equipment
• Able to work while in a harness at heights over 4 feet
• Able to lift 50 lbs throughout work shift

SAFETY

• Understand that Personal Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and therefore it is MY responsibility
• Follow all area/machine center specific safety regulations
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (i.e., hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and reflective wear) at ALL TIMES when working in designated areas
• Do not enter restricted areas
• Report immediately to the supervisor any piece of equipment that is unsafe or functioning improperly
• Request assistance when a task exceeds individual knowledge
• Visually inspect equipment and area before starting/operating
• Whenever possible, eliminate unsafe conditions as soon as possible
• Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers
• Use proper lifting technique by pushing, pulling and lifting with your legs and not your back
• Never approach a saw while it is still running
• Follow all other safety regulations as set forth by the company
