Location

We relocate teams based on project needs and individual development goals. The preferred location for this role is Lenexa, KS, but other locations may be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize applicable engineering codes (national and local)
  • Design duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding, and lighting systems from concept to completion using engineering documents, sketches, or vendor data
  • Report project updates and issues to the project lead
  • Coordinate with project team via project database and review processes
  • Develop 3D models from drawings and sketches
  • Check models for interferences and constructability
  • Route electrical cables in 3D to generate cable schedules
  • Model electrical components using vendor submittals and designs
  • Perform calculations for conduit fill, cable trays, and pull boxes per NEC standards
  • Layout electrical equipment and properly size cables and raceways
  • Gather information to develop designs and verify voltage separation requirements
  • Create plan drawings and details for electrical deliverables
  • Analyze, inspect, and ensure designs meet quality standards and safety protocols
  • Check designs for consistency, safety, operability, and maintainability
  • Resolve drawing issues and incorporate feedback
  • Assist construction in resolving field issues
  • Ensure deliverables comply with company standards
  • Report progress to Lead Designer
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in electrical design/drafting
  • Experience with 3D programs such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or SmartPlant 3D; SmartPlant 3D preferred
  • Ability to conceptualize in 3D
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Proficient in Navisworks and Microsoft Office
  • DOE and commercial nuclear experience is a plus but not required
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident and pass a background check
  • Professional demeanor for interactions with clients and vendors
  • Open to feedback and continuous improvement
