Job summary

The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is seeking a Kids Zone Attendant to support youth programming and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for children up to age 10. You will oversee activities, monitor entry/exit, and document program records while engaging with families and staff.

Ideal candidates are at least 16, with CPR/First Aid certification, strong supervision skills, and a friendly, collaborative approach to working with diverse families and a team of caregivers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 16 years old.
• CPR and First Aid certification completed.
• Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of children and parents.
• All required online trainings completed before starting ( compensated ).
• Criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Set up daily activities, ensure room safety before children enter, report needs.
• Manage entry/exit from the child watch room.
• Maintain required program records.
• Supervise children ages 6 months to 10 years and all activities.
• Cultivate positive relationships and communicate with parents.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; perform other duties as needed.

Position Summary

Essential Functions

• Set up daily activities, make sure room is safe before children enter, and report room needs to the designated person.


• Manage entry/exit from child watch room.


• Maintain required program records as required.


• Supervises children ages 6 months to 10 years, program area, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.


• Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents.


• Learn and attend to special needs of children in the child watch center and understand the concerns of parents regarding their children.


• Maintain program area and equipment.


• Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings as required.


• Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary.

Qualifications

• Child & Infant CPR and First Aid certification.


• Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques.


• Ability to work with and interact with a diverse group of children and parents.


• All required online trainings must be completed before starting work, which will be compensated for accordingly.


• Criminal record clearance.
