Job summary

American Youth Dance Theater seeks a part-time Tap Instructor to teach on Wednesdays 3:30-6:15pm for the 2026/27 school year. The role requires several years of teaching children and teens (ages 4-12) and experience in choreographing polished recital dances.

Contract runs September through mid-June. Position involves teaching weekly technique classes, choreographing dances for recitals, selecting music and costumes, and attending staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years teaching & choreography experience.
• College or Masters degree in dance preferred, but not required.
• Excellent classroom management skills and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and team spirit.

Responsibilities

• Teach weekly tap technique classes.
• Choreograph dances for December and June recitals.
• Select recital music and costumes.
• Attend staff meetings (Sept, Nov, May).
• Complete year-end student evaluations.
