Job summary

YMCA of the North Hudson YMCA is hiring Kids Stuff Staff to join our drop-in childcare program. This part-time role pays $16.50 per hour for evenings and Saturdays, with hours varying by site.

You'll help supervise children aged 6 weeks to 10 years and support a welcoming environment for families using the YMCA facilities. Responsibilities include greeting members, leading activities, maintaining safety, and participating in trainings.

The YMCA Kids Stuff Childcare Program is hiring energetic and reliable part-time staff for our drop-in Workout Childcare locations. Hours vary by site based on program needs. Team members enjoy a free YMCA of the North membership and discounts on YMCA programs.

Schedule

• Weekday Evenings; 3:55pm to 7:30pm
• Saturdays; 7:55am to 11:30am

Requirements

• Must be available 2-3 weekday evenings, Monday through Friday, from 3:55pm to 7:30pm.
• Must be available a minimum of 1-2 Saturdays a month from 7:55am to 11:30am.

Pay

The salary for this position is $16.50 hourly. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Part-time benefits will vary.

Job Summary

The Kids Stuff Staff is responsible for providing quality care to children in a positive, nurturing environment while their parents are using the YMCA facilities. The Kids Stuff Area could include children between the ages of 6 weeks and 10 years of age.

Job Responsibilities

• Greet children and members.
• Follow correct sign-in and out practices
• Supervise, play, and initiate games and activities with children.
• Communicate courteously with members.
• Follow daily sanitizing procedures and help out with weekly cleaning schedules.
• Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.
• Ensure that toys and shelves are organized at the end of the day/shift.
• Follow all procedures and policies of the department, branch, and Association.

Relationships

This position reports to the Kids Stuff Supervisor and take work direction from the Kids Stuff Lead. The incumbent interacts regularly with children and parents.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum age of 16
• Experience leading and supervising children
• Ability to motivate, energize, and entertain children
• Knowledge of appropriate activities for various age levels – including skill and ability to implement curriculum
• Strong organizational and child supervision skills

Work Conditions

• Ability to lead and participate in physical activities that may include but are not limited to walking, standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, running, throwing, kicking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
• May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.
• Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.
