Located in the growing suburbs of Pittsburgh, Discovery Christian Church is a dynamic community of compassionate and authentic followers of Jesus. Our weekly gatherings host around 500 people, including 50-70 middle and high school students and 100+ birth through elementary kids. While many generations call our church home, our largest demographic comprises young families. This is a strategic area for investing in the upcoming generation. Our local school districts are ranked among the best in PA and host local sports teams that are consistently competing for titles.

We’re seeking a creative, hardworking, authentic, and fun candidate to work closely with our Family Discipleship Pastor and experienced volunteer team members to lead, teach, and plan our kids' ministry experiences.

Qualifications

• Theological convictions consistent with historically orthodox Christianity.
• A personal, thriving, intelligent spiritual life following Jesus.
• Experience and passion for participating and serving within a local church.
• Some formal education in theology, teaching, or leadership.

Responsibilities

• Fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and spiritually inspiring experience for kids from birth through fifth grade on Sunday mornings.
• Curating interactions and processes that help new kids and families feel engaged and integrated into the Discovery community.
• Collaborative strategic planning with staff and kids, executing regular gatherings and occasional large events.
• Prioritizing safety and security for each of the kids at our experiences.
• Experimenting with, creating, and evaluating kids' experiences to help the youngest generation foster an understanding of and love for Jesus.
• Organizing, recruiting, empowering, and caring for volunteer leaders who serve on the frontlines of the spiritual formation of our kids.
• Building relationships with kids and parents, including engaging in their everyday lives (e.g., playing video games, attending sporting events, and other extracurricular activities).
• Leading with humility and love.
• Participating in and contributing to the vision and initiatives of our church community.
