Job summary

The Crossing is seeking an Associate Kids Pastor to lead Kids Ministry at one of our Saint Louis-area campuses. You will recruit, train, and empower volunteers and paid staff to create safe, engaging environments that reflect our mission to help kids know Jesus.

Working with campus leadership, you will develop programs, manage budget, and model pastoral care for families. The role requires strong relational, communication, and leadership skills and a passion for Jesus and the Church.

Qualifications

• BS or BA or minimum of 5 years’ experience leading kids’ ministry
• 3–5 years’ experience in children’s ministry or education (multi-site preferred)
• Experience leading volunteer teams and paid staff (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Translate and cast vision to volunteers to embed culture.
• Oversee development of volunteer team and invest in them.
• Develop leadership Coaches and Volunteer Pipeline.
• Foster relationships with families and provide family care, discipleship and pastoral support.
• Collaborate with campus leadership to develop and oversee budget and resources.
• Lead pastoral duties and champion unity across ministries.

The Kids Pastor

provides leadership, vision, and oversight for Kids Ministry at their campus, ensuring the ministry effectively reflects the mission, vision, and strategies of KidsCrossing. This person leads, develops, and equips volunteers and paid staff, when applicable, to create safe, engaging, and spiritually formative environments for kids.

They build meaningful relationships with kids and families and equip parents to help their children know, follow, and trust Jesus. Working in partnership with Central Services and campus leadership, the Associate Kids Pastor is responsible for the health, effectiveness, and execution of Kids Ministry at their campus.

The ideal candidate has a passion for Jesus Christ, The Crossing, and helping kids and families take meaningful steps in their spiritual journey, along with strong relational, communication, and leadership skills.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Be a translator of and cast vision clearly and frequently to ensure all volunteers are continuously folded into the culture of The Crossing
• Oversee the development of the volunteer team and investment in them using the principles in the Cultivate Playbook
• Develop dynamic leadership team (Coaches) that can be handed ministry responsibilities and help you lead others (Volunteer Pipeline)
• Foster relationships with families and provide family care, discipleship and pastoral support as needed. Some of this may occur through, but not limited to, the following:
  • 1:1 Conversations
  • Classes
  • Digital Communication
  • Milestone Events

• Implement systems, policies and procedures agreed upon by KidsCrossing team to ensure unity and consistency across sites, safe and secure environments, and efficient use of staff and volunteers
• Lead, develop, encourage and support kids’ staff at your campus (if applicable)
• Collaborate with Director of Kids’ Ministry to develop and oversee the budget so it effectively and wisely utilizes church resources and maximizes ministry opportunity

Pastoral Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and confidence in Scripture
• Able to effectively navigate the art of leading a Serve Profile or pastoral conversation
• Champion unity throughout all Crossing Ministries and campuses
• Be accessible (including non-office hours) to volunteers, families, and other attenders for pastoral care
• Participate in pastoral meetings and any other duties assigned to pastors at The Crossing
