Job summary

Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston seeks a dynamic leader to oversee the comprehensive Children’s Ministries program from birth through fifth grade. You will lead a relational, intergenerational team, develop curriculum, and coordinate events such as VBS and Christmas Eve services, while supporting Grace School and family ministries.

You will supervise staff and interns, recruit volunteers, and ensure program quality, safety, and alignment with reformed theology and discipleship.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and vision for Children’s Ministries in the development of a unified strategic plan that includes clearly defined values, leadership development, evangelism, disciple making, worship, Bible teaching, personal accountability, and on-going evaluation.
• Direct and coach the paid Children’s Ministries staff and interns; coordinate responsibilities for Children’s Ministries staff.
• Recruit, train, and support Children’s Ministries teachers/leaders; provide ongoing orientation and training, including security policies.
• Design, select, and implement all curriculum for Nursery through fifth grade.
• Orchestrate planning, implementation, and evaluation of VBS; hire and supervise necessary outside services.
• Lead Backyard and TreeHouse environments; participate in planning meetings; host/teach; manage greenroom inventory.
• Coordinate with Directors to provide leadership, direction, and evaluation of the Grace Kids Music program for K-5.
• Serve as liaison to Grace School; oversee Family Ministry associates and interns; oversee Bible curriculum; provide pastoral care to Grace School children and families.
• Provide leadership and evaluation for Children’s Ministries events; manage materials, volunteers, donations, and programming.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate Sacrament and Worship training classes.
• Coordinate with Leadership Team for Christmas Eve services.
• Provide leadership for special needs children as needed.
• Oversee Nursery and Children’s Ministries budgets; payroll for interns.
• Oversee all Children’s Ministries communications with Grace Church multimedia and marketing resources.
• Attend Tactical and Strategic meetings, Covenant Partner classes, Session Meetings, and Stewardship events on behalf of Children’s Ministries.
• Develop a unified approach to ministry transitions between departments.
• Provide pastoral care to children and families, as needed.
• Assist in worship leadership as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
