As a Kiddie Park Operator, you will perform various tasks related to the operations of all rides within Kiddie Park. Highly enthusiastic staff will have the opportunity to become Birthday Party Hosts and ticket clerks. You are to learn basic ride operations, a point-of-sale register, and cash handling. You will have constant direct guest interaction and must always exhibit excellent guest service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Learn to safely and properly operate all rides owned and operated by the San Antonio Zoo.
• Approach each guest with an authentic greeting within 60 seconds upon entering Kiddie Park.
• After every guest interaction, thank them and ensure every guest leaves satisfied with their Kiddie Park experience.
• Ensure all opening and closing procedures for Kiddie Park are completed.
• Operate leaf blowers when needed.
• Ensure exterior areas of rides, including sitting, loading, and surrounding areas, are clear of trash or debris.
• Monitor rider safety and take necessary measures to ensure riders’ behavior does not endanger themselves, zoo employees, or other passengers.
• Report any unsafe conditions to leadership.
• Ensure each guest meets rider age safety requirements before loading rides.
• Assist guests with mobility issues with getting on and off the rides.
• Adhere to all policies set forth by San Antonio Zoo.
• Consistently exhibit a service-oriented attitude inside and outside the Zoo, showing hospitality to all.
• Be fully committed to the mission of San Antonio Zoo to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wild world we steward and the animals we protect.

Other Responsibilities:

• Performs other work-related duties as required and assigned.

SKILL/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Friendly, outgoing personality.
• Ability to use various electronic cash registers.
• IRT certification is required (training provided on-site).
• Preferred: Six months in a theme park or hospitality industry.
• Preferred: Six months cash register/cash-handling experience in retail.
• Preferred: Six months customer service industry experience.
• Ability to relate effectively with the public, especially school-age children and older adults.
• Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.
