Retail For The People is opening a New York City flagship and seeking a confident, experienced KEYHOLDER to lead the floor with authority from day one. You will own shifts, coach a team, and ensure a refined, high-touch client experience that reflects luxury standards.
Expect ownership of sales performance, visual standards, and operational rigor. Immediate start, full-time, on-site role in New York City with competitive compensation and a wardrobe allowance.
Be the person the team counts on when it matters most.
A globally celebrated, female-founded fashion brand — with a devoted following, an iconic aesthetic, and serious cultural momentum — is opening its New York City flagship. And they need someone who can hold the standard when leadership isn’t in the room.
This is a rare, ground-floor opportunity to step into a leadership role at one of the most anticipated retail openings in New York City. The clientele is discerning. The environment is extraordinary. The responsibility is real from day one.
If you are a confident, experienced retail professional who leads by example, earns the trust of a team naturally, and understands that running a great shift is both an art and a discipline — we want to meet you.
You don’t just show up for your shift. You own it. You open the doors knowing exactly what needs to happen, you close them knowing it did. You hold the energy of the floor, support the team around you, and deliver the kind of experience that makes customers feel the difference between a good store and an exceptional one.
The leader on the floor. The one people look to.
Naturally Authoritative, Never Intimidating — You carry yourself with quiet confidence. The team follows your lead because you’ve earned it, not because your name is on the schedule as the opener.
Commercially Aware — You understand that a great shift isn’t just a well-run one — it’s a profitable one. You know your KPIs, you watch the floor with a commercial eye, and you know how to coach a team to perform in the moment.
A Skilled Stylist — You have a genuine point of view on fashion and the ability to translate it into sales. You can step onto the floor and close a fitting room as naturally as you can open the store.
Operationally Excellent — Opening procedures, closing counts, cash handling, loss prevention — you do these things properly every time, not because someone’s watching, but because you understand why they matter.
A shift with real authority.
Lead the team with energy and direction on every shift you hold. Set the pace, maintain the culture, and make real-time decisions that keep the store performing and the experience elevated. You are the manager on duty — act like it.
Deliver and inspire a refined, high-touch experience for every client. Step in on complex styling moments, difficult transactions, and any interaction where the customer needs someone with more authority and more expertise. Be that person.
Drive conversion, UPT, and AUR on every shift. Coach associates in real time — a quiet word on the floor during a lull, a quick debrief after a fitting room interaction. Your team performs better because you’re actively making them better, not just watching.
Maintain exceptional product presentation and replenishment standards throughout your shift. Ensure the store looks the way it should every hour it’s open — not just at the start of the day.
Open and close the store to a precise standard. Manage cash handling, daily reconciliation, and loss prevention procedures with accuracy and accountability. Escalate what needs to be escalated. Handle what can be handled. Know the difference.
2+ years of retail experience with at least one year in a keyholder, lead, or supervisory capacity — you’ve held responsibility before and you’re ready for more
Proven ability to lead a team on the floor in real time — coaching, directing, and motivating in the moment, not just in theory
Strong individual sales performance — you hit your own targets while lifting the people around you
Genuine understanding of luxury or premium retail standards — the environment you’re walking into is elevated and the experience must reflect that on every shift you hold
Fluent in retail operations: opening and closing procedures, cash handling, loss prevention, POS, and inventory management
Familiarity with Shopify POS is a plus — comfort learning new systems is essential
Flexibility for weekends, evenings, and key trading periods — keyholders are needed when the store needs them most
A real passion for fashion, styling, and the customer — this is not a stepping stone role for someone waiting for something else
Built for people who take this seriously.
Competitive Compensation — Hourly pay that reflects the added responsibility of a keyholder role at a luxury flagship. This is not an associate rate with a different title.
Monthly Wardrobe Allowance — A generous monthly allowance to wear the brand you’re representing. Looking the part is part of the role — we make it easy.
Employee Discount — Meaningful employee pricing on a collection you’ll genuinely want to own. The kind of discount that makes this feel like a privilege, not a perk.
A Real Leadership Path — Keyholders who perform here have a direct line to Assistant Manager and beyond as this brand’s retail footprint grows.
The strongest teams are diverse teams. Applicants from all backgrounds are warmly encouraged to apply — especially those who share a passion for intentional fashion, elevated retail, and exceptional leadership.
