Role Overview

As an Applebee's Team Lead/Key Hourly, you will be involved in all aspects of daily restaurant operations. Your role is to ensure guests and staff have a positive experience every day. You should be a team leader, a great problem solver, a strong communicator, and capable of handling stress effectively. While the work is demanding, it is also rewarding and enjoyable.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure prompt, friendly service per company standards.
  • Foster a culture aligned with Flynn - Applebee’s values and beliefs.
  • Ensure product quality and presentation meet standards.
  • Verify product freshness and invoice accuracy upon receipt.
  • Handle guest complaints by referring to the MOD.
  • Correct unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Report non-routine situations to the MOD.
  • Complete all assignments promptly and properly.
  • Communicate effectively with management daily.
  • Lead and train employees, emphasizing the importance of training.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Act as a coach and role model for staff.
  • Manage assets and cash handling procedures.
  • Assist with daily control duties and goal setting for personal growth.
  • Create a positive and professional environment, encouraging staff engagement.
  • Learn and apply training systems, assess employee performance, and provide feedback.
  • Prepare beverages, serve food and drinks, and interact with guests in the bar area.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including side work and garnishing.
  • Handle transactions accurately and relay orders to the kitchen.
Qualifications
  • Basic reading, writing, math, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate POS and back-office systems.
  • Certification in all positions for FOH or BOH preferred.
  • Reliable attendance and leadership qualities.
  • Approval from District Manager/Market President required.

Physical and Other Requirements
  • Ability to stand and move for up to four hours.
  • Use of knives, slicing, and food prep equipment.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Work in various environmental conditions including wet floors, temperature extremes, and noisy settings.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Work entire shifts with appropriate breaks.
  • Dexterity for small tools and equipment use.
