Job summary

Houchens Ace Hardware in Indiana is seeking a reliable Key Holder to support store operations and stand in for management when needed. You will guide associates, handle cash processes, and ensure policies are followed to Amaze Every Customer Every Time.

The role requires basic retail experience, comfort with computer systems, and strong data recording skills; a valid driver’s license is required. This is a full-time on-site position with safety and teamwork at the core.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Retail experience: 6 months to 1 year.
• Proficient with computer systems and software.
• Gather and analyze data and maintain accurate records.
• Valid driver license required.

Responsibilities

• Open and/or close the store as dictated by schedule.
• Direct the store team in the absence of management; handle cash, receiving, inventory, and store processes.
• Resolve and/or report issues pertaining to shift, staff, customers, or product.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures and model safety.
• Complete other tasks as directed by supervision.

Position Summary

Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Primary responsibility for all positions with Houchens Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. The Key Holder is responsible for the overall direction of store associates and coordination of store operations in the absence of key store management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for opening and/or closing the store as dictated by schedule
• In the absence of management staff, serves as the “Manager on Duty” by directing the store team, and adhering to company directed policies and procedures as they relate to the store operations; receiving of merchandise, store opening and closing processes, cash register transactions, daily cash reconciliation, and inventory control.
• Resolve and/or report any issues pertaining the shift including employee, customer, product issues, etc.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures, and serves as role model for safety.
• Other assigned tasks as directed by Supervision

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months-1 year of retail experience.
• Technically proficient in computer systems including related software
• Gather and analyze data and maintain accurate records.
• Take initiative, assume responsibility, and execute thoroughly.
• Interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with company’s insurance carrier’s standards.
