Position Summary
We are seeking a Key Account Manager, who will play a critical and vital role in nurturing and expanding existing customer relationships, provide overall account leadership and act as the key customer interface for assigned accounts. This person has a proven track record of elevating customer relationships, excels at understanding customer needs, solving customers challenges and is creative and persistent in finding new opportunities to gain share in the rigid packaging market, focused on closures and bottles. This is a high visibility role and reports to the Sr. Director, Consumer Packaging.
Primary Functions
Account Management
- Provide account leadership and full ownership of assigned accounts.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, products, supply chain and sustainability requirements and proactively address customer pain points.
- Be our customers’ Trusted Advisor.
- Elevate customer relationship and ensure full customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key clients to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnership.
- Able to navigate across complex, large-scale accounts and drive deep account penetration and grow our share.
- Takes full ownership of contract negotiations and work with internal stakeholders to secure multi-year contract executions.
- Work with stakeholders to drive the achievement of agreed-to deliverables to internal and external customers while being accountable for the final decisions for the accounts.
- Drive accurate sales forecasts by working closely with our customers to understand their demand and partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure customers’ requirements are met.
- Maintain accurate forecasts, CRM data, Power BI/Smartsheet, account plans and other necessary reporting as required by leadership on a regular and frequent cadence.
Sales and business development
- Meet and exceed annual sales, margin and EBITDA goals.
- Vigilantly identifies and drives a healthy pipeline of opportunities at established accounts and converts them into new business.
- Support the pricing strategy and negotiate contracts in collaboration with the commercial and legal teams.
- Expert in navigating across complex, large-scale accounts and drive deep account penetration and grow our share within these accounts.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with technical, project management, production, quality, and logistics teams to deliver tailored rigid plastic packaging solutions.
Market & Industry Insight:
- Stay updated and ahead of market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments and provide updates on a regular cadence to leadership.
- Provide strategic input to improve product offerings and service levels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Packaging Engineering, Scient or a related field.
- 10+ years of key account management in the rigid plastics or packaging industry. Experience with child resistant closures is preferred but not required.
- Proven track record of managing and growing key accounts.
- Strong technical understanding of rigid plastic materials (e.g., PET, HDPE, PP) and packaging processes (e.g., injection molding, blow molding).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong commercial acumen, critical thinking, planning, relationship management and problem prevention/solving skills.
- Proven performance in building and delivering business cases – revenue, profit, ROIC and market share.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
- Customer centric outlook with a well-developed understanding of what it takes to build raving fan customers.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Detail oriented, able to meet deadlines on complex projects; excels in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to utilize today’s computer technology and software in the execution of his / her job
Physical Requirements
- Sitting at workstation approximately 75 percent of work time.
- Standing and walking approximately 25 percent of work time.
- Must be able to travel a minimum of 50 percent of work time.
- Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces.
