Overview

Key Account Manager – Nutritional/Functional Ingredients. Dietary Supplements, Nutraceuticals, Sports Nutritional Products, Functional Foods and Beverages. Home based with travel (Any US State).


Our client is a leading Australian manufacturer of high quality nutritional ingredients and nutritional systems sold to nutraceutical, dietary supplement and functional foods manufacturers across the US. HQ in Australia, they are expanding into the North American region and are looking for a Hunter to grow the business and access to new customers.


This Account Manager will focus on building and growing the business in the US. The focus will be selling nutritional ingredients to dietary supplement and functional food/beverage manufacturers in the region. If you are a dynamic and proactive individual that has the nutritional ingredients sales experience and ability to network, build relationships and generate business in these areas, we would love to talk with you.



Responsibilities


  • Responsible for obtaining new customers and gaining new business in the US and Canadian Markets

  • Represent the company in a highly professional manner to both key customers and prospective accounts

  • Manage relationships and sales to customers within the market.

  • Commercial responsibility to deliver agreed sales targets for the business.

  • Identify and on-board opportunities with customers & prospects where company can offer value added solutions.

  • Work closely with cross-functional technical, commercial and operational personnel to progress key identified opportunities.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the products/capabilities offered by company to the industry.

  • Develop an understanding of competitors, their products and key market drivers.

  • Provide timely information on current and prospective customers, competitors and trends in the Nutritional Ingredient segment.

  • Operate in a highly ethical manner internally & externally and in full alignment with the companies way of working.

  • Designs and implements strategic sales plans that expand company’s customer base and ensure its strong presence

  • Develops and implements new sales initiatives, strategies and programs to capture key demographics

  • Develops and presents company products and services to current and potential clients

  • Sells to existing and potential direct customers as well as provide sales support to other divisions

  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts, monitor competitors, market conditions and product developments

  • Develops & presents sales proposals, sales contracts

  • Generates new leads, sources and develop client referrals, negotiate with customers

  • Strategy will be achieved



Required Skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree required – preferably in food science, dairy science, similar related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Must have at least 5+ years of experience selling specialty Nutritional Ingredients to manufacturers into the dietary supplement, sports nutrition and/or functional food segments

  • Prefer candidates with some technical, R&D, applications experience and/or experience calling directly on R&D

  • Work from Home office and must be willing to travel frequently (30-50%) as needed within the US and/or Canada.

  • Knowledge of Dietary Supplements, Nutraceuticals, Sports Nutritional Products and Functional Foods/Beverages is required.

  • Functional Skills: Proven business planning, sales/networking, execution, and follow-through skills required; experience setting annual goals and action plans for new territories; experience providing education and training to influence sales; ability to research, inquire, and execute on market data to build future strategies is also required

  • Leadership/Behaviors: Excellent customer focus; proactive; collaborative; self-motivated; driven to compete and succeed; high ethical standards

  • Must be willing to travel about 30%-50% of the time throughout the US.
