Job summary

The Salvation Army in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Seasonal Bell Ringer Driver to support the Christmas season. You will operate a van, deliver and retrieve Red Kettles, and transport paid bell ringers between church locations and retail sites.

Responsibilities include following assigned routes, checking in with ringers, and helping move donations to the Christmas warehouse. A High School Diploma or GED is preferred, and applicants must be able to read and communicate in English.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Ability to drive a large van or minibus.
• Ability to use a smart phone and follow map routes.
• Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy weights (25–100 lbs) and work in varying environments.

This position is responsible for:

Key Responsibilities

• Delivers and retrieves Red Kettles from assigned retail locations at the beginning and end of bell-ringing shifts.
• Provides transportation for designated paid bell ringers between The Salvation Army church on Wake Forest Road and assigned retail locations.
• Follows daily routes and schedules assigned by the Kettle Coordinator.
• Conducts regular check-ins with paid bell ringers along assigned routes to verify attendance, provide support, and address any issues. Reports concerns promptly to the Kettle Coordinator.
• Operates Salvation Army vehicles to transport donated gifts, stockings, and other Christmas program items from churches, businesses, and designated collection sites to the Christmas warehouse.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Ability to drive a large van or minibus.
• Ability to use a smart phone and follow map routes.
• Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
• Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing and climbing as well as lift and carry and/or push/pull moderate (25 - 50 lbs) and possibly heavy (50-100 lbs) materials and donations.
• Work is performed in a vehicle with exposure to outdoor temperatures and a warehouse with exposure to dirt, dust and/or disagreeable sights and orders.
