Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a kernel-focused engineer to work on day-to-day ESXi kernel development in Palo Alto, focusing on CPU, memory, and core kernel infrastructure. You will design scalable OS-level features and contribute to resource management for advanced hardware support.

Collaborating with multiple engineering teams, you will help deliver enterprise-class virtualization products and own large kernel projects from design through delivery, with 0-4 years of experience welcomed.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field.
• 0-4 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong C / C++ programming experience.
• Understanding of kernel-level OS architectures.
• Experience with OS virtualization and hypervisors.
• Open source kernel contribution encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day kernel-level development focused within the ESXi operating system kernel, CPU, memory, and general kernel infrastructure.
• Design and implement advanced kernel-level resource management features to support new hardware technologies for CPU and memory teams.
• Architect and develop scalable, high-performance OS-level features.
• Develop novel OS techniques and algorithms for managing virtual and physical hardware.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to deliver enterprise-class virtualization products on VMware Cloud Foundation.
• Own and drive large, complex kernel-level projects from design through delivery.
