Job summary

Charleston Animal Society is seeking a Kennel Technician on-site at our Berkeley Campus in Moncks Corner to provide daily care and exercise for shelter dogs, especially larger breeds. The role requires physical stamina, comfort with outdoor and indoor work, and a caring, team‑oriented attitude.

You will walk large dogs, monitor health, follow safety protocols, and keep records while collaborating with staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Experience handling large dogs or working in a shelter/rescue preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Comfort working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Walk, exercise, and engage with large dogs daily to ensure adequate physical and mental stimulation.
• Provide essential care, including feeding and monitoring the health and well-being of each animal.
• Follow safety protocols to manage and handle large dogs effectively.
• Clean kennels, assist with feeding schedules, and perform other shelter maintenance as needed.
• Keep accurate records of each animal’s behavior, progress, and health.
• Communicate effectively with shelter staff and volunteers.
