SPCA Cincinnati is seeking a Kennel Technician to care for animals, sanitize living spaces, and assist with showings for adopters. The role involves daily cleaning, feeding, and ensuring animal welfare within a busy shelter environment.

The position requires strong communication, the ability to work with diverse teams, and flexibility to work daytime, evenings, and weekends. Candidates must be at least 18 with a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations as presented by visitors, staff and/or volunteers.
  • Ability to work in environments with possible exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, traffic hazards, pathogenic substances, animal attacks and animal bites.
  • Must be 18 years of age, has a high school diploma or equivalent GED, valid driving license with a clean record.
  • Ability to operate a computer and knowledge of commonly associated software programs.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. or more, work with all species of animals, have the physical ability to maintain balance, scoop, crouch, and reach over your head.
  • Ability to work daytime, evenings and weekends as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning assigned areas, including urine, feces, and other waste material.
  • Ensuring animals in cleaning areas have food and water.
  • Performing shows and releases for potential adopters or new owners.
  • Constant cleaning of hallways, walls and windows throughout the facility.
  • Report to veterinarians any bleeding, sickness, or injuries.
  • Other duties as assigned.
