Chatham Small Animal Hospital in New York seeks a dependable Kennel Attendant to help keep our facility clean, organized, and comfortable for patients and clients.

You’ll clean kennels, bedding, and treatment areas, restock supplies, and assist the veterinary team, with weekend and holiday shifts as needed. $16.50/hour.

Qualifications

  • Primary responsibility is cleaning and sanitation of the hospital and kennels.
  • Dependable, punctual, and a good team member.
  • Comfortable around dogs, cats, bodily fluids, odors, and messes.
  • Willing to work some weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect kennels, runs, cages, treatment areas, and hospital spaces.
  • Clean up urine, feces, hair and other messes promptly and thoroughly.
  • Wash and change bedding, blankets, towels, and other linens.
  • Empty trash and maintain clean waste areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and perform general cleaning duties.
  • Keep floors, walls, doors, windows, and surfaces clean and presentable.
  • Maintain organized and sanitary animal housing areas.
  • Feed and provide fresh water to hospitalized and boarding animals as directed.
  • Assist with laundry and maintain adequate supplies of clean bedding and towels.
  • Restock cleaning and animal care supplies.
  • Follow hospital cleaning, sanitation, and safety protocols.
  • Assist the veterinary team with other basic hospital and animal-care tasks as needed.

Job description

Chatham Small Animal Hospital is looking for a dependable, hardworking Kennel Attendant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in keeping a veterinary hospital clean, organized, sanitary, and comfortable for our patients, clients, and team.

What You’ll Do

Cleaning and maintaining the hospital is a primary responsibility of this position. You will help ensure our facility meets high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the day.

Responsibilities include:

  • Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting kennels, runs, cages, treatment areas, and other hospital spaces
  • Cleaning up urine, feces, hair, and other messes promptly and thoroughly
  • Washing and changing bedding, blankets, towels, and other linens
  • Emptying trash and maintaining clean waste areas
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and other general cleaning duties
  • Keeping floors, walls, doors, windows, and surfaces clean and presentable
  • Maintaining organized and sanitary animal housing areas
  • Feeding and providing fresh water to hospitalized and boarding animals as directed
  • Assisting with laundry and maintaining adequate supplies of clean bedding and towels
  • Restocking cleaning and animal care supplies
  • Following all hospital cleaning, sanitation, and safety protocols
  • Assisting the veterinary team with other basic hospital and animal-care tasks as needed

  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team
  • Comfortable working around dogs, cats, bodily fluids, odors, and messes
  • Able to stay on task and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to move quickly while still maintaining high cleaning standards
  • Comfortable with physical work, including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and cleaning
  • Previous veterinary, kennel, animal care, or cleaning experience is a plus, but not required
  • Must be willing to work some weekends and holidays as needed
