Kennel Technician – Part-time

Covenant Care Animal Hospital

Leon Valley, TX

Schedule:
  • Part-time position, approximately 25-29 hours per week
  • Thursday through Sunday schedule
  • Weekend availability is required
About You

Covenant Care Animal Hospital is seeking a dependable, compassionate Kennel Technician to join our boarding team. This part-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on animal care, takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment, and is comfortable working with dogs and cats of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments. The Kennel Technician helps ensure every boarding pet receives attentive care, enrichment, and a comfortable experience while staying with us.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily care for boarding pets, including feeding, fresh water, walks, playtime, and enrichment according to each pet’s needs and instructions.
  • Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, cages, bowls, bedding, play areas, and other boarding spaces to maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment.
  • Monitor pets for changes in behavior, appetite, elimination, comfort, or health, and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate team member.
  • Handle pets safely and compassionately, using low-stress techniques whenever possible and following hospital safety protocols.
  • Assist with basic bathing, nail trims, and sanitary maintenance, or other boarding related care tasks.
  • Maintain accurate boarding records, including feeding notes, medication reminders, activity updates, and any observations related to the pet’s stay.
  • Support the boarding and hospital teams with laundry, restocking supplies, organizing boarding areas, and other tasks that help keep the facility running smoothly.
  • Communicate with teammates in a professional, timely manner to ensure continuity of care for each boarding pet.
About You:
  • You have a genuine passion for animal care and take pride in helping pets feel safe, clean, and comfortable.
  • You are dependable, punctual, and comfortable working independently while staying connected with the team.
  • You have strong attention to detail and can follow written instructions, feeding schedules, cleaning protocols, and boarding notes accurately.
  • You are comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes, breeds, ages, and temperaments.
  • You bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to help wherever needed.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in animal care, boarding, kennel, shelter, grooming, veterinary, or pet care environment is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow care instructions, communicate clearly, and report concerns appropriately.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and balancing multiple care tasks throughout the shift.
  • Must be available to work Thursday through Sunday.
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, reach, lift and carry supplies, and safely handle pets of varying sizes with appropriate assistance when needed. The position may involve exposure to animal hair, cleaning products, noise, odors, and common animal care environments.
