Job summary

AmeriVet Veterinary Partners in Alabama seeks a dedicated animal-care teammate to maintain kennels, assist with patient comfort, and support veterinary staff. The role involves cleaning, feeding, monitoring animals, and restocking supplies in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The ideal candidate shows compassion, reliability, and teamwork, with a willingness to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed. Prior animal care experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience working with animals preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of animal behavior and handling is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, cages, treatment areas, and common spaces according to hospital protocols.
  • Feed, water, walk, and monitor hospitalized and boarding animals; report concerns to veterinary staff.
  • Observe pets for changes in behavior or condition; provide comfort measures and report needs.
  • Assist with patient comfort, bedding changes, enrichment, and basic handling.
  • Launder towels, bedding, and other reusable supplies; restock as needed.
  • Safely handle animals of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and infection-control guidelines.
  • Provide support to veterinary technicians and doctors as needed.
