Job summary

Calusa Veterinary Center is seeking a full-time Kennel and Boarding Manager to lead kennel and boarding operations in Boca Raton. You will supervise staff, coordinate schedules, and ensure compassionate care for boarded animals.

You will collaborate with veterinarians and technicians to monitor health needs, maintain records, and promote additional services while upholding safety and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a kennel, boarding, or veterinary environment.
• Prior supervisory or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of animal behavior, husbandry, and basic health indicators.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in an active environment.
• Comfort working with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily kennel and boarding operations, including check-ins, check-outs, and scheduling.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized boarding environment in compliance with state and local regulations.
• Monitor kennel capacity and coordinate reservations to optimize occupancy.
• Ensure proper housing, feeding, exercise, and enrichment for all boarded animals according to individual care plans.
• Manage supply inventory (food, bedding, cleaning products) and submit purchase requests as needed.
• Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate kennel staff including technicians, assistants, and part-time attendants.
• Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during all operating hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Conduct regular team meetings and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
• Address and resolve employee concerns in coordination with HR and Practice Management.
• Communicate closely with the veterinary team regarding any animals requiring medical attention or monitoring.
