Job summary

Rocky Mountain Small Animal Hospital (RMSAH) in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, is seeking a Kennel Assistant to care for boarding and daycare pets, ensuring proper feeding, exercise, and safety. You’ll monitor animal behavior and health, and report concerns to the medical team while maintaining a clean, safe environment.

The role requires physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs and a flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Passion for animal welfare and a caring attitude towards boarding and daycare pets.
  • Dependable, efficient, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with teammates and clients when appropriate.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically active kennel duties.
  • Flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays is required.
  • Previous kennel assistant experience is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Personalized Care: you'll be the primary caregiver for our boarding and daycare pets, ensuring they receive the correct food, exercise, and attention to make their stay comfortable and safe.
  • Be the Eyes and Ears of Animal Health: you'll carefully monitor the behavior and habits of the animals in your care, promptly notifying the medical team of any unusual health concerns.
  • Create a Safe and Healthy Environment: you'll maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire resort, from kennel areas and runs to the outside grounds.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence: you'll keep the resort running smoothly by managing inventory for food and cleaning supplies and collaborating with the team to ensure all tasks are completed.

  • Previous experience as a kennel assistant is preferred. A flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays, is required.
  • The pay range for this position is $18-$20 per hour based on experience.
