Position: Kennel Assistant

The Kennel Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, efficient, and healthy environment for animals being treated or boarded. A typical day includes:

  • Maintaining cleanliness of the hospital, including kennels, runs, treatment areas, and grounds.
  • Feeding hospitalized animals and boarders.
  • Monitoring and recording animals’ conditions, behavior, and habits.
  • Walking animals three times daily.
  • Notifying veterinary staff of medical or behavioral issues.
  • Cleaning treatment, exam, surgery, and lab areas daily.
  • Maintaining laundry and keeping the laundry area organized.
  • Assisting the veterinary team with restraint and treatments.
  • Monitoring and maintaining inventory of supplies.
  • Performing additional duties to support clinic operations and client service.

Qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Computer skills, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, good judgment, and stress management.
  • Physical and mental ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Previous kennel technician experience.
