Job summary

Campechecovevet is hiring a Kennel Assistant / Pet Daycare Assistant (full-time or part-time) in Galveston, TX. Responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, supervising play, bathing, grooming, and basic medical care; you will also transport animals and maintain sanitation.

Experience in kennels or veterinary settings is preferred but not required. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a love for animals are essential, along with good client communication.

Responsibilities

• Feed and clean up after animals (dogs, cats, exotics, birds, horses, farm animals).
• Clean kennels and habitats; supervise play times; laundry; bathing and grooming of dogs and cats.
• Administer medications after training; observe animals for discomfort or medical concerns; document observations.
• Transport animals to and from kennels, exam rooms, lobby, and clients' vehicles; maintain sanitation and janitorial duties.
• Maintain accurate records in electronic medical records software; report concerns to veterinarians.

Job Position: Kennel Assistant / Pet Daycare Assistant (Full-Time or Part-Time)

COMPENSATION

• $12 to $16 per hour, commensurate with job-related experience, skills, and training.

WHO WE'RE SEEKING

For general descriptive purposes only, as actual job duties may vary and are subject to change due to changing business or patient needs, and may include other duties as needed:

• Experience in a kennel, animal boarding/daycare facility, or veterinary environment is preferred, but not required.
• Daily tasks include feeding and cleaning up after animals (including dogs, cats, exotic pets, birds, horses, and both large and small farm animals); cleaning kennels and habitats; supervising dogs and other pets during play times; laundry; bathing and grooming dogs and cats; administering medications (including via subcutaneous injection after training); walking and observing dogs outdoors; cleaning cat litter; transporting animals to and from kennels, exam rooms, the lobby, and clients' vehicles; sanitation and janitorial duties throughout the facility, including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, organizing, and general cleaning; observing patients for signs of discomfort or medical concern; frequently documenting observations and work performed in electronic medical records software; immediately informing Veterinarians of suspected medical concerns; etc.
• Kennel Assistants and Pet Daycare Assistants serve as a second set of eyes for the Veterinarians and other staff. Emerging concerns regarding a patient's health may be noticed first by the Kennel Assistants and Pet Daycare Assistants. Accordingly, Kennel Assistants and Pet Daycare Assistants must have a keen detail orientation, work well both independently and under guidance, and demonstrate initiative in completing daily tasks. Following through on detailed instructions is essential.
• As key players in ensuring animals are fed and cared for, Kennel Assistants and Pet Daycare Assistants directly contribute to the health, hygiene, and well-being of patients. Since patients rely on Kennel Assistants to attend to their essential needs, punctuality and reliability are essential.
