Job Description

We are seeking a Kennel Assistant to join our team!

This position plays a critical role in ensuring these purposefully bred dogs become the Service Dogs they are destined to become. Kennel Assistants are essential in ensuring the Service Dogs in Training receive the best care physically and mentally. You will be providing love and care for 30+ dogs daily and helping dogs help humans!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Keeping the kennel clean and sanitized according to ECAD policies
  • Ensuring animals are healthy and current on all vaccines required by CT
  • Feeding, watering, medicating, grooming, and exercising animals per ECAD policies & dog care plan
  • Managing group play and individual enrichment activities
  • Maintaining and updating records at all times
  • Documenting concerns regarding animals, staff, and property
  • Completing and submitting the work sheet provided by ECAD
  • Monitoring and documenting changes in health and behavior
  • Administering prescribed and preventative medications
  • Performing daily kennel duties
Qualifications
  • Willing to work between 7:30 am – 7:30 pm, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Reliable transportation
Education and Skills
  • High School diploma; higher education in Animal Science, Vet Tech, Training, or Grooming is a plus
  • Experience in veterinary or kennel settings preferred but not required
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting related to animal care and facility maintenance
  • Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal behavior is a plus
  • Passion for animal welfare and enrichment
  • Reliable and attentive to detail
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team
Physical Demands

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 40 pounds. Frequent use of hands and arms, and ability to see clearly are required.

Work Environment

Work may be loud and involves inside and outside tasks in all weather conditions. Physical activity and movement are required throughout shifts from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, seven days a week.
