Carriage Animal Hospital in Lombard, Illinois is seeking to hire a Full-time Kennel Attendant to join our amazing team.

The successful candidate will have kennel experience, strong communication skills, and a flexible schedule. This role requires the ability to lift up to 40lbs, work well on a team, and multitask in a busy veterinary environment. Duties include cleaning, feeding, walking dogs, bathing, and assisting veterinarians and technicians.

Qualifications

• Kennel experience (clinic, shelter, daycare or pet care) and willingness to train.
• Strong communication skills and reliable, punctual work habits.
• Flexible schedule with weekend/holiday availability; part-time option noted.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize cages, boarding areas, and bathrooms.
• Feed and care for canines and felines; occasional pocket pets.
• Walk dogs in all weather; change litter pans for cats.
• Laundry, washing, and sanitizing pet dishes.
• Maintain hospital interior and exterior cleanliness.
• Check on patients throughout the day; bathe pets as needed.
• Prepare pets for dismissal and assist veterinarians and technicians.
• Administer medications as trained and communicate patient status to staff.

The successful candidate(s) must:

Have some Kennel experience (working at a Veterinary clinic, Shelter, daycare, or even taking care of own pets) Training is available

have strong communication skills

have a flexible schedule

part-time available- weekends/holidays amust, no exceptions!

is dependable, reliable, PUNCTUAL and organized

works well on a team

able to keep an efficient log on patients in clinic

able to multitask in a busy environment

lift and carry up to 40lbs

stand and walk for long periods of time

Kennel attendants provide the basic needs of animals that are being boarded, groomed, in daycare, or that are patients in the hospital.

General duties include but are not limited to:

cleaning(this means anything & everything) and sanitizing cages, boarding area, bathrooms etc.

feeding and caring for canines and felines (occasionally pocket pets like hamsters)

walking canines(no matter the weather), changing feline litter pans

doing laundry & washing, sanitizing pet dishes

cleaning and maintaining hospital interior and outside premises (this includes lobby, lunch room, groom room, storage room & any other part of the clinic that needs attending to)

checking on all patients throughout the day

Bathing pets for the groomer or kennel baths after boarding

prepare pets for dismissal

assisting Veterinarians and and Technicians when needed

giving medications to hospitalized or boarding patients (will provide training)

communicates to Vets/Techs about patients health that are being boarded or hospitalized

The Full-Time and Part-time positions work Monday-Friday with alternating Weekends

Priority will be given to applicants with Veterinary and or Kennel experience. Pay rate will be determined by experience.

Full-Time positions are eligible for Health, Dental, Vision insurance and 401K

• The base hourly range for this position is $15-$17. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
