Job summary

Kennesaw Pet Center in Georgia is seeking a reliable Kennel Assistant to join our small animal veterinary practice. This role suits someone who enjoys caring for dogs and cats and wants to be part of a supportive veterinary team.

You will assist with care, cleaning, intake and discharge, feeding, walking, and basic grooming as needed, while following safety procedures and reporting concerns to the veterinary team.

Qualifications

• Experience in animal care is a plus but not required.
• Comfortable with dogs and cats of different sizes.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Willing to perform cleaning and physical tasks throughout the day.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive and compassionate care to dogs and cats.
• Safely handle and move animals throughout the hospital.
• Feed and provide fresh water according to patient instructions.
• Walk dogs and provide appropriate exercise and bathroom breaks.
• Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, cages, and other patient areas.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary hospital environment.
• Assist with bathing and basic grooming as needed.
• Monitor animals for changes in behavior, appetite, or overall condition and report concerns to the veterinary team.
• Assist veterinary assistants, technicians, and doctors with general hospital duties as needed.
• Properly dispose of waste and maintain appropriate sanitation protocols.
• Stock supplies and help keep treatment and kennel areas organized.
• Follow all animal-handling and safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as needed to support the veterinary team.
