A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) is seeking a full-time exempt Assistant Professor/Clinician of OMM on the Kirksville, Missouri campus. This position involves teaching courses and preparing course materials in the department of OMM, supporting the OMM Residency Program, and providing comprehensive family medicine services with an emphasis on osteopathic manipulative medicine for the northeast Missouri community.
Assistant Professor Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in developing clinical presentations, integrating case formats into the curriculum, and creating cases for evolving curriculum.
- Identify assessment issues and help respond and resolve them affecting students and faculty.
- Revise, develop, and present policies impacting students and faculty, such as learning disabilities policies and Promotion Board changes.
- Interview applicants, serve on committees, and perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Develop learning objectives, lecture materials, and test questions related to internal medicine coursework.
- Submit an annual Faculty Activity Report or portfolio.
Clinician Responsibilities
- Supervise and assess residents in the OMM Residency Program.
- Provide and manage direct patient care, including examinations, evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments.
- Train and supervise medical students in the clinic.
- Participate in committees, task forces, and review boards as requested.
- Collaborate with other OMM faculty to foster a positive learning environment.
- Assist in recruiting and selecting resident candidates.
- Encourage residents' participation in educational and scholarly activities.
- Coordinate patient care activities of nursing and support staff as needed.
- Follow departmental policies, safety, quality, and infection control standards.
Requirements
- Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree and Board Certification in osteopathic manipulative medicine.
- Preferred: Well-trained OMM physician.
- Federal DEA Certification; Medical License or Certification; Board certification or eligibility in a specified medical specialty.
- Teaching experience in higher education; medical education experience is a plus; experience working with physicians and coordination skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to observe, assess, record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards in medical care.
- Knowledge of relevant drugs, patient care aids, and prescription instructions.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
- Knowledge of community medical services and accreditation requirements.
- Up-to-date knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
