Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Systems Administrator 2 (Linux) on a part-time basis for Kauai, HI. You will provide RHEL administration across Navy networks, apply security controls, and manage patches while supporting virtualization and scripting tasks.

The role requires experience with RMF, DISA STIGs, and DoW policies, plus collaboration with cyber teams on ATO packages and audits. Amentum offers benefits and mission-focused work in a challenging environment.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of specialized Linux system administration is required.
• Knowledge of IT systems and advance IT infrastructure concepts.
• Must be proficient in operating personal computers, software and office equipment.
• Must have basic keyboarding skills and accuracy in sorting.
• Critical thinking - Proven problem solver.
• Proficiency in automation tools and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• VMware certification or Nutanix certification.
• Knowledge/Administration of Trellix, LogRhythm, and MDE.
• Experience with DoW systems and infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Cyber Security Methods and Techniques; Windows and RHEL.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Red Hat Linux (RHEL) across Navy networks.
• Implement RMF security controls and ensure DISA STIG/A DoW compliance.
• Apply patches and updates according to DoW and Navy policies.
• Manage installation methods and system imaging (SCCM, VMware, Nutanix, Satellite, Ansible).
• Perform system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation with ACAS, ESS, SCAP.
• Develop PowerShell scripts for automation of tasks.
• Support virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and manage lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams for ATO packages and audits.
• Maintain system documentation and SOPs.
• Participate in CCBs/CMBs.
• Lead incident response and disaster recovery efforts.
• Define backup/recovery strategies with Veeam/Commvault.
• Evaluate new Linux technologies and DoW-approved tools.
• Occasional travel and MATSS support.
• Team-based project work.
• Perform other duties.
