Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. – Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a production supervisor to oversee semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel.

You will supervise, train, and coordinate staff to meet quality targets and budget goals, ensuring compliance with drawings, procedures, and safety requirements across manufacturing and testing operations. Must have an appropriate level of supervisory experience (BS/Apprentice with 4 years or equivalent with 6 years combined supervisory/CS

Qualifications

• BS/Apprentice plus 4 years production supervisor experience, or non-BS/Non-Apprentice with 6 years combined supervisory experience and/or CS experience.
• Experience supervising semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel; training staff to improve quality and productivity.
• Knowledge of production procedures, drawings, and budget monitoring is expected.

The Role

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc. Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts.

Must Have

BS/Apprentice + 4 years production supervisor experience OR Non-BS/Non-Apprentice with 6 years combined production supervisory experience and/or CS experience.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of Nimtz Class Carrier overhaul and ship repair. Broad CVN 68 class experience, to include work control procedures, nuclear procedures, tank testing,and watertight to name a few.
