Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (Newport News Shipbuilding) is seeking an experienced professional to manage production control for ship-centric manufacturing in Newport News, VA.

You will plan and issue production schedules, coordinate material requirements, and keep management informed on progress, supply, and potential production issues. The role emphasizes coordination across QA, purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure timely flow of parts and adherence to the master

Qualifications

• NNS Apprentice graduate or Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of applicable technical experience OR Master's degree and 8 years relevant experience.
• Thorough understanding of construction, manufacturing processes, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, issue and control production schedules.
• Coordinate with material requirements to ensure timely flow of approved materials.
• Advise management of status of work in progress, material availability, and production problems.
• Schedule equipment and personnel; prepare purchase requests aligned with the master production schedule.
• Coordinate interdepartmental activity with QA, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, and shipping.

The Role

Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.

This position will be focused on Ship Centric Production Control.

Must Have

NNS Apprentice graduate or Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of applicable technical experience OR Master's degree and 8 years relevant experience. A candidate must have a thorough understanding of construction, manufacturing processes, and operations.
