Who We Are

KIPP Massachusetts began enrolling students in 2004 and currently holds two charters in Lynn and Boston. Each district serves grades K-12 and K-8 respectively.

Position Overview

The Special Education Sub-Separate Lead Teacher will be responsible for instructing a small group of students in core content areas (Math, Reading, Humanities, and Science) and for supporting students during inclusion opportunities. Responsibilities include managing IEP paperwork, communicating with families, advocating for students, and assisting teachers with accommodations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Classroom Responsibilities

  • Lead instruction for 1 to 4 content areas based on IEP goals.
  • Create and internalize daily aligned lesson plans and assessments.
  • Modify standards to meet the needs of students.
  • Implement modified grading scales as needed per IEPs.
  • Utilize best practices for special education to execute engaging instruction.
  • Complete Functional Behavior Assessments as needed.
  • Collaborate with psychologists to run trauma-informed and social-emotional skill groups.

School and Professional Responsibilities

  • Obtain required MTEL and SEI endorsements within the first year.
  • Design and refine the vision for student culture alongside school leaders.
  • Lead the 504 and IEP process for all students in the classroom.
  • Participate in professional development and seek feedback for growth.
  • Develop strong relationships with families through school events.

General Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ability to collect and interpret data.
  • Utilize effective communication skills.
  • Physical mobility to execute duties effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of full-time teaching experience (in Special Education preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Pass Criminal Background Check.

What We Offer
The minimum base salary for this position is $63,000 to $102,500, depending on experience. The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus and an annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years.
