Job summary

Globe Park Elementary School in Woonsocket, Rhode Island seeks a Resource Teacher to support remedial and vocational instructional activities for handicapped students at the secondary level, in line with IEPs. The role includes screening, placement, planning individualized programs, and collaboration with teachers and multidisciplinary teams.

The position requires K-8 RIDE certification and experience with special education; MLL certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• K-8 RIDE certification is required.
• Evidence of educational preparation or practical experience in providing educational and vocational instructional activities.
• MLL Certification is preferred.
• 1-year position for the 26-27 SY only

Responsibilities

• Assists in screening, evaluation, and placement of students in special education programs.
• Develops individualized and sequential programs for handicapped students.
• Provides individualized and/or small group instruction according to IEPs.
• Conducts educational, classroom, and vocational assessments as requested by the multidisciplinary team.
• Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings when necessary.
• Maintains accurate records on all students evaluated and served.
• Assists teachers by interpreting abilities/disabilities of students and providing accommodations.
