Job summary

Martha's Vineyard Public Schools is seeking a School Social Counselor to support PK-8 students across MVPS sites in Vineyard Haven, MA. The role emphasizes direct student services, coordination of mental health resources, and collaborative planning for a comprehensive school mental health program.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s degree in mental health counseling or social work, are licensed (LCSW/LICSW/LMHC), and have 5–10 years of experience with children/adolescents in mental health

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in mental health counseling or social work.
  • Currently holds and maintains LCSW, LICSW, LMHC credentials
  • At least 5-10 years of experience working with children/adolescents in a mental health setting
  • Canditate must pass a MVPS CORI, fingerprinting, as well as other pre-employment documentation
  • Understanding of MTSS and school mental health
  • DESE licensure as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor required
  • Three years of experience providing school based services to children/adolescents and consulting with school personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to uphold confidentiality at all times
  • Upholds ethical standards of professional license held
  • Knowledge of community based resources and facilitating family access as appropriate and needed
  • Trained in multiple therapeutic specializations (e.g., addiction, anxiety, bipolar disorder, LGBTQ, trauma, etc.) and modalities
  • Bi-lingual: English and Brazilian/Portuguese preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
