Job summary

Constellation Schools in Cleveland, OH seeks a K-8th Grade School Counselor to promote student success through a comprehensive counseling program addressing academic and social-emotional development. You will provide preventive and responsive services, participate on IEP teams, and liaise with parents, teachers and resources.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, data-driven interventions, and collaboration with staff to support students and families in an urban school setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field.
• Strong social/emotional or trauma informed care background preferred.
• Valid State of Ohio certification and demonstrated competence as a school based social services counselor.
• Must demonstrate mastery of all areas of counseling responsibility and be computer literate.
• Must understand local, regional, State and Federal resources that support families, students and school institutions.
• Successful completion of federal and state background checks.
• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• High quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in an urban and/or school turnaround setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Share a commitment to the success of the charter school's mission, goals, and objectives.
• Set high expectations and standards for student achievement and personal performance.
• Offer resources and coaching to support student achievement of academic standards.
• Use data to analyze barriers to achievement and improve behavior management.
• Coordinate and report student interventions and serve as liaison with staff and resources.
• Guide teachers in implementing personal learning plans for classroom management.
• Identify and develop creative interventions for unusual situations.
• Demonstrate counseling techniques and maintain documentation and tracking.
