Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences seeks a Music Teacher to plan and deliver high-quality instruction for K-8 students, aligning with Common Core and state standards. The role emphasizes engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and a positive classroom culture.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's in Elementary Education (Master's preferred) with Michigan teaching certification and endorsement in JQ/JX. Salary aligns with the district's compensation plan for certified teachers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field; Master's preferred
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with Endorsement for content area (JQ or JX)
• Previous experience teaching elementary school strongly preferred

Responsabilités

• Develop and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum, Common Core, and state standards.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for learning, respectful behavior, and a sense of community among students.
• Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring each student's unique needs are met.
• Regularly assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents/guardians.
• Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to enhance the overall educational experience and contribute to the school's positive and collaborative culture.
• Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians through regular updates, conferences, and involvement in school events.
• Stay informed about current educational trends, participate in professional development opportunities, and continuously seek ways to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
• Actively participate in the Teaching and Learning Cycle which requires analyzing data, completing action plans, delivering re-teach lessons and reflecting on the instructional learning cycle;
• Participate in the development of and adhere to all specialized student plans i.e. IEPs, 504, Behavior Plans, etc.
• Contribute to a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability;
• Adhere to the District’s and School’s policies, expectations, and protocols as outlined in the District’s Policies and Procedures Manual and School’s Procedures Manual.
