Escuela Avancemos! Academy in Detroit seeks passionate educators to support K–8 English language learners through rigorous instruction and language development. You will plan engaging lessons, assess progress, and implement restorative practices to promote an inclusive classroom.

The role emphasizes collaboration with ESL staff and families, strong classroom management, and commitment to equity. Bachelor’s degree and MI teaching cert are required; ESL endorsement preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.
• Valid Michigan teaching certification for the appropriate grade level.
• ESL/ELL Endorsement, preferred.
• Commitment to culturally responsive and student‑centered instruction.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver rigorous, standards‑aligned instruction that supports academic achievement.
• Implement culturally responsive teaching practices and ESL strategies.
• Differentiate instruction to meet language proficiency levels.
• Analyze student performance and language data to inform instruction and interventions.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and restorative classroom environment.
• Collaborate with ESL staff and support teams to ensure student success.
• Build strong partnerships with families and caregivers.
• Maintain accurate records, assessments, and required documentation.
