Job summary

VACANCY: FTE English as a Second Language (ESL) /K-8 Bilingual ELA Teacher

JOB SUMMARY: The teacher is responsible to the Building Principal for: planning instructional lessons that meet the needs, interests and abilities of students in the ESL classroom; creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; and employing effective instructional techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Applicants must hold appropriate State of Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with an English as a Second Language endorsement
• Knowledgeable in ESL teaching methods, curriculum, materials and instructional assessments
• Previous teaching experience with bilingual/ESL students preferred
• Previous teaching experience in the primary grades
• Ability to organize and structure classes to maximize student learning
• Inclination to be a part of staff development and program improvement activities, both self-initiated and building designed, as well as participation in assessment sessions throughout the school district when needed
• Ability to work closely with parents, teachers, and supervisors to establish effective communication
• Spanish speaking required
