Job summary

Freedom Preparatory Academy seeks Special Education teachers specializing in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade for its Birmingham campuses. As a teacher, you will introduce and help students master concepts, assess progress through the year, and work with colleagues to align curricula across grades.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree, Alabama teaching license (or reciprocity), and 2–4 years of urban teaching experience; a Master's degree is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
• Valid Alabama teaching license and endorsements in the hired content area or reciprocity with AL.
• Two to four years of urban teaching and educational leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Model and uphold the network values of respect, responsibility, integrity, community, and excellence.
• Collaborate with general and special education teachers to align curriculum and achieve student growth.
• Review IEPs and 504 plans; implement accommodations and progress monitoring.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Engage families through regular communication and meetings to support student development.
• Deliver diverse instructional strategies to meet varied learning needs within an inclusive classroom.
• Participate in extended-day activities for collaboration and professional development.
