Job summary

The Sumter School District is seeking a Coordinator of Elementary Math and Science to develop and implement a K–5 curriculum aligned with the South Carolina standards, develop HQIM adoption, and lead a professional development program that improves student achievement. The role reports to the Director of Elementary Education and collaborates with instructional staff district-wide.

Qualifications

Must hold or be eligible for a South Carolina Teaching Certificate (P-5).
Minimum of 5 years of successful elementary classroom teaching.
Instructional Coach experience preferred; district leadership experience valued.
Alternatives may be considered with superintendent approval.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive K–5 curriculum aligned with SC standards.
Coordinate resources to support effective instruction in Mathematics and Science.
Assist teachers and coaches in organizing curriculum and improving teaching strategies.
Lead professional learning communities and district-wide professional development.
Promote formative assessment and data-informed instruction.
Support implementation of STEM curriculum and technology integration.
Collaborate with district administrators to allocate resources.
Visit schools to provide actionable feedback to leadership and staff.
