Job summary

Cherokee County School District in Acworth, GA is seeking a SY 26-27 Literacy Coach for Oak Grove Elementary School. Immediate starting date with duties to support literacy programs district-wide and within the school.

The role requires a Master’s in Reading or related field and a minimum of ten years of K-5 literacy experience, with leadership or administrative experience preferred. 188-day contract; reports to the Coordinator, Curriculum Support - Literacy.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Reading, Language Arts or Education required.
• Ten years’ experience in K-5 education required.
• Teacher leader and/or administrative experience preferred.
• Successful experience teaching literacy in K-5 curriculum required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Coordinator with all aspects of the literacy program.
• Support development of evidence-based literacy practices in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
• Provide literacy leadership development and professional learning.
• Assist with selecting and aligning literacy resources to the classroom.
• Monitor district data to drive strategies for student achievement in literacy.

Education

Master’s Degree in Reading, Language Arts or Education

Ten years’ experience in K-5 education

Teacher leader and/or administrative experience preferred

Successful experience teaching literacy in K-5 curriculum
