Job summary

Miami Country Day School is seeking a creative and collaborative substitute teacher to join our Lower School (PK3–Grade 5) community for the 2026–2027 school year. In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, you will provide meaningful instruction and support for scheduled lessons.

You will help maintain a positive learning environment, follow lesson plans left by the teacher, supervise students, and assist with routines such as attendance and transitions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Commitment to student safety and well-being.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and support teachers.
• Excellent collaboration with staff.

Responsibilities

• Reports to division office before the school day to pick up materials and schedule.
• Follows sign out procedures.
• Guide students through minor technical issues.
• Carry out a program of study prescribed in lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
• Create a conducive learning environment.
• Maintain attendance and follow school procedures.
• Ensure students are never left unattended.
• May perform lunch/recess duties and other related tasks.
