Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• State of Alabama certification in the appropriate area.
• Must meet highly qualified status per ALSDE.
• Background clearance as required by Alabama statutes.

Responsibilities

• Uphold school rules, regulations and Board policies.
• Participate in efficient operation of school and system.
• Do not accept other employment conflicting with duties.
• Adhere to Code of Ethics for teachers.
• Follow approved curriculum and materials.
• Foster citizenship, self-discipline, morality and patriotism.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times.
• Create a conducive classroom environment within resources.
• Maintain discipline in classroom and school environment.
• Prepare for classes and show evidence of prep.
• Keep accurate records as required by policy.
• Evaluate student progress per procedures.
• Seek specialist assistance and make referrals when appropriate.
• Protect students and school materials/equipment.
• Be available to students/parents outside instructional day.
• Collaborate with staff on activities, goals and methods.
• Assist in book/equipment selection.
• Participate in extracurriculars with administration.
• Attend faculty meetings regularly.
• Maintain professional relations with parents/community.
• Promote good public relations for the school.
• Maintain/Improve professional competence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by principal.
