Job summary

Poage Elementary School is seeking a passionate Art Teacher to inspire and empower students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. The role focuses on developing engaging art curricula, promoting creativity, and integrating art across subjects to enrich the overall learning experience.

The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio, effective communication skills, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom. This is a full-time, on-site position at Poage Elementary School.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Elementary education, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in Elementary education.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably in an elementary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of various art techniques and materials.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students to explore their creativity.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• A portfolio showcasing personal and student artwork is preferred.
• Familiarity with integrating technology into art instruction is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging art curriculum for students in grades K-5, aligned with state standards.
• Create lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students can participate and thrive.
• Teach a variety of art techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
• Organize and manage art supplies and materials, ensuring a safe and organized classroom environment.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages creativity and self-expression.
• Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help students improve their skills.
• Collaborate with other teachers to integrate art into cross-curricular projects and initiatives.
• Organize and oversee art shows, exhibitions, and community events to showcase student work.
• Stay current with art education trends and best practices, participating in professional development opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
