Job summary

Family Life Academy Charter Schools seeks an Academic Intervention Services (AIS) Teacher to support students in grades K-5 with targeted interventions and rigorous, standards-based curricula. Under the principal's supervision, you will plan and deliver small-group instruction to close achievement gaps and help every student master state standards.

You will collaborate with school leaders, engage families, and participate in professional development while maintaining a safe, supportive classroom

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree is preferred.
• New York State Teaching Certification in Childhood Education (grades 1-6), Early Childhood Education (birth-grade 2), Literacy (birth-grade 6), Students with Disabilities (birth-grade 2), or Students with Disabilities (grades 1-6).
• Two years of prior satisfactory teaching experience is required.
• Clearance for fingerprint and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of grade level content curricula to engage students in all content areas.
• Plans, prepares and facilitates intensive assistance to children who are at risk or underperforming with differentiated instruction.
• Participate in child study meetings and in the Response to Intervention identification process.
• Establishes a culture of learning with rigorous standards based curricula and prepares students for middle/high school.
• Focuses on integration of literacy across math, science and social studies with explicit vocabulary development.
• Integrates technology into the curricula and classroom.
• Designs and implements assessments that measure progress towards standards.
• Uses data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices to close achievement gaps.
• Creates a respectful, safe classroom environment and engages parents.
• Participate in collaborative curriculum and professional development and school events.
