Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet Highly Qualified Status by one of: 2/4 year degree, 48 semester hours, or Pathways to TA + WorkKeys.
• Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children.
• Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Gives group instruction as prescribed by teacher; provides individualized instruction.
• Demonstrates various instructional activities.
• Checks and corrects students’ work while in progress; keeps students on task.
• Praises and reinforces achievement of students.
• Reports student progress to teacher.
• Arranges classroom furnishings and prepares visual aids; duplicates materials.
• Serves as proctor during testing; scores papers; distributes and collects materials.
• Attends workshops.
• Checks and reports attendance; enters health data and records student behavior.
• Supervises students; promotes positive behavior; develops discipline and policy; reports issues to teacher/principal.
• Drive bus as required; maintain bus driver certification; perform other duties as assigned.
